Reducing your environmental impact
At the National Ice Centre we work hard to keep our environmental impact to a minimum, helping you in turn reduce the carbon footprint of your event.
We’re proud to be an Industry Green (IG mark) two star accredited venue, reducing our carbon emissions wherever possible and striving to improve our environmental performance.
Reclaimed energy
All our power, heating and hot water comes from energy recovery - using hot water and electricity generated from incinerating local waste at the local Eastcroft Energy from Waste (EfW) facility.
Recycling
Our waste collection company Wastecycle is a Multi Recycling Facility and has a site recycling rate of over 91%. Paper and cardboard are separated here on site and collected separately for recycling.
Water
We’re water conscious, whether it’s reusing water from industrial processes to make ice, or the use of water reducing urinals smart toilet technology.
